40-year-old Derek Matthew Carter, died in Keswick, Virginia, on March 11, 2022. He was a Murfreesboro local who graduated from Oakland High School and went on to Middle Tennessee State University to get his bachelor’s degree. He relocated to Los Angeles, California after graduating.
He relocated to Nashville after 14 years, where he remained until November 2021. He later relocated to Keswick, Virginia, where he lived until his death. Derek’s parents, Thomas Ray “Tommy” and Pansey Carter, are survived by his brother Chad Carter, sister Ashley (Nick) Coble, and nephews Jackson and Carter Coble. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and acquaintances also survive him.
Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home will have a visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022. Jerry Howard and WD Thomason will officiate in a chapel ceremony at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
