A woman from Rancho Palos Verdes died in the hospital after collapsing during the Los Angeles Marathon
Race officials reported Tuesday that a lady who suffered a heart attack at the finish line of the Los Angeles Marathon died in a hospital. According to a statement from the organizers, Trisha Paddock took part in the Charity Challenge Half Marathon.
“This is a tragic loss, and our hearts go out to her family and loved ones,” said the organizers. “We want to express our gratitude and admiration to all of the first responders, paramedics, and medical personnel that arrived on the site promptly.”
Organizers say they’ve reached out to the Paddock family and offered their support. According to the statement, Paddock was raising money for the Asian American Drug Abuse Program.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters “came in contact with a 44-year-old female race participant at the finish line suffering a medical complaint that proceeded to a witnessed cardiac arrest.”
