Death: Sergio Sanchez, 21, Killed In A Suspected DUI Car Accident Near Carpinteria

Death: A passenger who died in a suspected drunk driving accident near Carpinteria has been named –  Authorities have released the name of the passenger killed in a suspected DUI crash near Carpinteria last week. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says Sergio Honorio Sanchez, 21, was killed in the March 18 crash that happened around 2:18 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, south of North Padaro Lane.

According to ksby.com, the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle he was driving collided with the back of an asphalt dump truck before veering off the road and colliding with two trees near train tracks. At the scene, Sanchez was pronounced deceased.

According to CHP, the driver, Johnathan Jair Montoya, 22, of Orcutt, was seriously injured and arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
