Death; Michael Brittingham, Dover, DE, Community Mourns: Michael Anthony Brittingham passed away on April 19, 2024, after a long and courageous life. He passed away in a manner that was totally unexpected, and his family is in a state of terrible grief.
Michael was born in Dover, Delaware on May 2, 1963. His parents, Bessie A. Rushin and Robert “Bobby” Young, were his parents. Randy “Wimpy,” Ronald “Hurt,” Tommy “Boo-Boo,” Verona, Perrin, and Tonya were his siblings, and he was the oldest of the six children. Mike counted himself fortunate to have a large and loving family.
Before serving in the United States Army for a period of three years, Michael received his diploma from Cape Henlopen High School, which is located in Lewes, Delaware. After completing his time in the service, Michael worked for a number of years for companies such as Grottos, Mountainaire Farms, and Perdue.
Michael, who was affectionately referred to as “Dog” or “Lil Mike,” delighted in spending time with his family. At family get-togethers, he would be the first person to arrive, and he would also be the first person to load plates before dining. The next day, he required additional plates for lunch and dinner, in addition to the plate that he needed for Denise. Mike would frequently request that his particular sister-in-law, Joyce, prepare his preferred dish on a regular basis. While watching sports and betting on sports, Little Mike was a big fan. You could find him at Grottos or Nicola Pizza on Sundays, with “the crew,” watching football while keeping an eye on his tickets. He was always vigilant about his tickets. The San Francisco 49ers were his favorite team for a long time.
Whenever Mike needed to ponder, he would frequently sit by the lake. Massey’s Landing Beach was one of his favorite places to hang out with his brother, Hurt, and indulge in some quality time together.
His father, Robert “Bobby” Young, as well as his bonus father, Thomas Rushin, as well as his grandparents, Rose Harris, Jack Young, and Thoris Young, as well as his aunts, Constance Brittingham, Marcelia Cannon, and Anita Brittingham; his uncles, Junior Miller, Martin Burton Sr., and Robert “Stink” Brittingham; his nephew, Travoris Brittingham, and his cousin Shanika Brown, all passed away before Mike.
Michael’s presence will be sorely missed, but his memory and legacy will live on through his mother, Bessie A. Brittingham, who resides in Belltown, Delaware; his six children, Bryant “B” Thomas of Lincoln, Delaware; Taliah White of Dover, Delaware; Tiffany “Bird” Cox of Bear, Delaware; Brittany “Britt” Cox of Milford, Delaware; and Mikeala “Baby Girl” Davis of Millsboro, Delaware.
