Death; Marie Kelleher, California State University Long Beach mourns passing of beloved professor: Marie Kelleher, a professor in the History Department at California State University, Long Beach, killed away suddenly and unexpectedly when he was surrounded by his family.
Medieval history is a subject that Dr. Kelleher has been teaching at CSU Long Beach from the year 2003. Medieval Spain and the Mediterranean globe, gender, and medieval law are some of the topics that she is interested in studying and teaching about.
Her work, “The Measure of Woman: Law and Female Identity in the Crown of Aragon,” was given the “Premio del Rey” in 2012 by the American Historical Association as the finest book ever written on early Iberian history. She has also been the recipient of a number of national awards and fellowships. Graduate programs at the University of Southern California, Fordham University, Cardiff University (Wales), and Princeton University have been attended by her pupils after they have completed their undergraduate studies.
Having spent her childhood in Portland, Oregon, Professor Kelleher went on to get her doctoral degree from the University of Kansas. When she has some spare time, she frequently engages in activities such as snapping photographs, riding her bicycle, or consuming outrageously large quantities of coffee.
