Death: Joseph Rosenberger Has Died At age 85, Cause Of Death – Joseph A. Rosenberger, 85, of Pottsville, died peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday. Joe Rosenberger was born on April 4, 1937, to Andrew and Mary Steinmetz Rosenberger. Joe attended and graduated from Pottsville Area High School in 1956. Joe was well-known for his athletic accomplishments, which included football and track and field.

According to republicanherald.com, Joe was a Wigwam Wiseman National High School All-American and an AP First Team All-State running back. In track and field, he won the District Eleven 100-yard dash in under ten seconds. Joe was offered many Division 1 scholarships, but he chose to join the Army instead.

Joe was later inducted into the Pottsville Area High School Sports Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame’s Allen-Rogowicz Chapter. Joe worked for the Greater Pottsville Area Sewer Authority for many years, eventually retiring as the street crew supervisor.

Joe will be remembered for his devotion to his loved ones. He was a devoted father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He coached his sons on the sidelines for many years as a young football and baseball coach. When he wasn’t coaching his kids and grandkids, he and his beloved wife, Ruth, were known for being the first ones to show up at their kids’ games and activities to cheer them on. Joe was an ardent Philadelphia supporter who cheered on the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State Nittany Lions in addition to supporting his children and grandchildren.
