LOUISVILLE, KY:- Death; John Wallace, Former Cardinals placekicker dead at age 31: Wednesday marked the passing of John Wallace, a former placekicker for the University of Louisville. He was 31 years old. The University of Louisville made the news, but they did not provide any information regarding the cause of death.
During his time at Central Hardin High School, Wallace, who was born and raised in Elizabethtown, participated in the sport of football. Rivals.com ranked him as a two-star talent, and during his senior year, he made 11 of 14 field shooting attempts.
Starting in 2012 and continuing until 2015, he was a member of the Cardinals, where he was coached by Charlie Strong and Bobby Petrino. The University of Louisville was able to win the Sugar Bowl in 2013, which was one of four consecutive bowl visits that Wallace was a part of. It was a 33-23 victory over the Gators, and he was responsible for two field goals that were kicked.
At the beginning of the 2012 season, Wallace kicked ten of his first eleven attempts and made 16 of his 21 attempts. His one and only miss was a shot from 57 yards out. That same year, he kicked a field goal from thirty yards out, which resulted in a victory for the Cardinals versus Cincinnati by a score of 34-31 in overtime.
The record for most field goals made at the University of Louisville is still held by Wallace, who made 66 over his four years at the university. He attended the University of Louisville and majored in finance. His parents are Carla and Patrick Wallace.
