Death; John McAllister AKA Eastside Obituary; Inmate At Williams Correctional Facility Pine Bluff, featured In Netflix’s “Unlocked: A Jail Experiment” Is Dead: John McAllister, 29, a prisoner at the Pine Bluff-based Williams Correctional Facility who was the subject of a recent Netflix documentary shot in the Pulaski County Jail, passed away early on Sunday morning. “Eastside” McAllister was incarcerated for three years after being found guilty on ten counts of felonies involving narcotics use, burglary, theft, and property theft.
Recently, McAllister starred in the contentious blockbuster Netflix documentary Unlocked: A Jail Experiment. He was taken by ambulance from his housing to the hospital when it was discovered that he was unconscious in his bunk.At 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, McAllister was declared deceased at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Suicide or foul play are not suspected. Melissa Regan and two other people have set up a GoFundMe to help with John McAllister’s burial and burial costs.
Although $15,000 was the target amount to be donated, $215 has been raised through the fundraising. “Hello, my name is Melissa, and I am raising money for my nephew, John McAllister, who tragically passed away on June 2, 2024, while incarcerated at Randall L. Williams Correctional Facility in Pine Bluff, AR,” according to a statement from the account. John was only 29 years old, and his freedom was only 30 days away.
