Death: Hamish Attenborough, 21, Found Dead At Milford Sound – The missing tramper found dead in Milford Sound has been identified as a 21-year-old guy. After being reported missing for two days, the man’s body was discovered on March 30. Hamish Steven Attenborough, 21, was identified by police.

The man was carrying safety equipment — for what was supposed to be a one-day walk — and was an experienced tramper who worked for Queenstown company Ultimate Hikes, according to the Otago Daily Times.

He went missing shortly after midnight after failing to return from a trip to Devil’s Armchair, near the Milford Track’s northern end.

According to the ODT, Ultimate Hikes general manager Noel Saxon said in a statement that the man worked as a lodge attendant at Mitre Peak Lodge. The death of one of the company’s employees left the company “very devastated.”

The obituary will be published online by the family and will contain funeral plans, dates, and burial arrangements.
