Death: Haley Crown Point Mourns The Lose Of Fire Dave Crane – Haley Crown Point is mourning the loss of one of its most valuable public servants. Fire Chief Dave Crane, a hero in the city of Crown Point, died today. In May 2017, Crane took over as chief of the fire department. He was the first full-time fire chief with a paramedic certification.
According to nwi.life, Crane began his career with Crown Point Fire Rescue as a volunteer fireman in September 1992 and quickly advanced through the ranks. In May 2000, he became a full-time firefighter/paramedic, and in January 2017, he was promoted to division chief. Crane also spent eight years as the Crown Point Fire Inspector.
Crane had always wanted to be a firefighter, and when he was 16 years old, he enrolled in the Lake Dale cadet program. Before joining the City of Crown Point, he spent 41 years as a firefighter in Lake Dale.
Crane developed cutting-edge public safety technologies during his term as chief, including managing the construction of a Safe Haven Baby Box at the Crown Point Fire Department, which was one of the few in the Region at the time.
