Death; Bayli Lake 22, Chatham County firefighter’s wife Has Passed Away From Tragic Crash: We share with heavy hearts the tragic news of Elaine and Jason Lake’s youngest daughter, Bayli Lake, dying away too soon. A hit-and-run accident claimed the innocent life of 22-year-old Bayli, a lively college student and the beloved wife of devoted firefighter Levi Lake, as she was making her way home from work.
Chatham County EMS and police were called to the site of a tragic crash that occurred on May 22 at around 11 p.m. on Norwood Avenue, close to Fox Chase Road. The inquiry states that Bayli was struck by an unidentified car as she was riding her bike north following the right fog line. Bayli was left mortally wounded when the driver fled the scene. At the site, Bayli was declared dead despite the efforts of emergency personnel.
The incident has shocked and saddened the community. Gwen Robbins, a neighbor, lamented the state of her life and pointed out the risks associated with the dangerous road that has no sidewalks. Robbins stated, “I was not surprised, but I was very saddened.” “It’s a miracle that it doesn’t happen more often.” She advocated for quick action to increase traffic safety and offered a poll to establish bike lanes or pathways connecting surrounding homes to the local commercial area.
The neighborhood and Bayli’s family must deal with their tragic loss while the police hunt for the involved car. Levi, Bayli’s spouse, has devoted his life to helping and defending others as a firefighter, thus his loss is exceptionally painful. The neighborhood is coming together to help Levi and Bayli’s family during this extremely difficult time. In an effort to lessen the financial strain on Bayli’s surviving family members, a fund has been established to assist with her burial costs.
Whatever your level of donation, it will help give Bayli the respectable sendoff she deserves and free up her family to grieve and remember her. Please think about making a donation or telling people about the fundraising if you know of anyone who could be able to assist the Lake family. They appreciate your kindness and assistance so much in this very trying time. GoFundMe Page
