Deana J. Cassidy Deetscreek Death – The Central Cambria School District is mourning the death of a longtime teacher and member who passed away unexpectedly. Deana J. Cassidy Deetscreek, a beloved mother died tragically on Monday, April 10, 2023. According to reports, the beloved teacher was pronounced dead after a brief illness. Deana J. Cassidy Deetscreek was a former teacher at Jackson Elementary School. She was loved and respected by all her students, fellow teacher, and community.
“I’ve had the privilege and honor of calling Deana my next-door neighbor for the past 4 yrs. God has a plan for her that we don’t quite understand right at this moment but I can assure you that she is up in heaven teaching because that is her passion! She is an amazing person whom a lot of people could learn from! May she rest in peace and let the healing process begin for the Deetscreek family.”
On April 10, 2023, Vinco resident Deana J., 53, passed away in her home. Daughter of the late Dean and Janet (Gregg) Cassidy, born in Indiana on July 8, 1969. She is survived by her daughters Ashley Deetscreek and Allyson (Logan) Berns, with whom she shared a 29-year marriage. Sister of Sean (Phoebe) Cassidy, Chance (Bethany), and Nicole Cassidy. In-laws Bob and Michele Jones, Debbie, and Bud Deetscreek, and a large number of nieces and nephews are also still alive. Member of Mundys Corner’s St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
For almost 30 years, Jackson Elementary School’s first-grade teacher. Jackson Twp. Fire Company social member. served on the committee for the Jackson Twp. Heritage Festival. . The Vinco Heights Crew, Deana’s Red Devil Community, and her unique “Framily” will all be deeply missed. Deana will also be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Friends may visit the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kevin McNamara officiating.
