After the suspect, Connor Sturgeon, killed five victims and injured eight others in a live-streamed incident, he was shot and killed by the police. Police have named the suspect in the most recent mass shooting in the United States as Connor Sturgeon, a white man, and have stated that he worked at Old National Bank, which is situated in the central business district of the state’s most populous city.
At 8:38 am (1238 GMT), the authorities were notified that shots had been fired inside the bank, and they arrived on the scene within three minutes. At a press conference held in the afternoon, interim Police Chief Jacquen Gwinn-Villaroel stated that the suspect shot at officers, who then returned fire and ultimately killed the suspect.
There was no immediate information available regarding the suspect’s motivation; however, CNN reported a source in law enforcement who stated that he had just been informed that he would be fired from his job. According to Gwinn-Villaroel, three of the injured victims are in critical condition, including a police officer who got a bullet to the head. Gwinn-Villaroel also mentioned that another police officer was wounded in the incident.
According to her, the victims were three men in their 40s, 63s, and 64s, as well as a woman in her 57s. Tommy Elliot, 63, was one of the individuals who was shot and killed, and it just so happened that he was friends with both the Democratic governor of Kentucky and the mayor of Louisville. This goes to illustrate how random gun violence can be.
The latter said that he had formerly managed a campaign out of the same premises where the incident had taken place. Condolences are been sent to the family members of Juliana Farmer, Tommy Elliott, Jim Tutt, Joshua Barrick and Deana Eckert after Kentucky shooting.
