David Odom Death – Former member of the Alexander County School Board David Odom of Taylorsville, North Carolina has died. He passed away on Monday 17th April 2023 at the age of 52. The news of his death has left many who knew him devastated. The news of his death was known through a Facebook that says “by As many people know, Will lost his uncle on Monday and it’s been really hard. There’s no words to describe the pain that his family is going through”.
What happened to David Odom?
The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of David Odom’s death has not been revealed at the time this publication was made public. On April 29, 1970, he was born in Iredell County to his parents, the late Harold M. Odom Sr. and Linda Price Odom of Taylorsville. His father passed away before his mother. David was a devoted member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, where he was active in the Brotherhood Group at Sulphur Springs and where he was known for his love of cooking.
He also served as Town Manager for the town of Taylorsville for a period of twenty years, during which time he was also a former Alexander County Commissioner, a former member of the Alexander County School Board, a member of the Central Alexander Fire Department, and a former member of the Alexander County School Board.
Before taking on the role of Town Manager for Taylorsville, he worked as a mechanic for Pinnix Chrysler and Emerald Chrysler Plymouth Dodge, in addition to holding the position of service manager for Larry Schronce Ford. At the age of sixteen, he became the track champion at the Taylorsville Speedway, where he had previously competed and won. He won his first race there when he was just fifteen years old. He had a soft spot for the Ocean Lakes Campground, but what really drove him was the satisfaction he got from being of assistance to others who were struggling.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 116 Patterson Rd., Hiddenite, NC. The Reverends Bradley Anderson, James Safret and Mitch King will officiate. Private Committal services will be held at a later date in the Taylorsville Cemetery.
