David’s sister, Melissa McDonald Kinstner pen a tribute to his beloved brother on social media, describing how wonderful and amazing human he was,
My big brother, David McDonald, passed away unexpectedly and far too soon on Thursday, March 17th.
If you knew Dave, you knew he had the BIGGEST heart. He was so proud to be a dad and he loved Caleb with everything in him. He literally devoted his life to helping others and saving lives. He loved and protected his family fiercely. He was always there to lend a helping hand – no matter what else he had going on in his life.
If he wasn’t working or on a fire call, you could find him at a Griffins game cheering on his favorite team, at Tulip City Brewstillery competing in the weekly trivia game, or up north at the cottage, which he had affectionately named McDonald’s Playland.
He could talk to anyone…and he usually did. Random strangers would soon be calling “Hey, Dave!” at events and on vacations.
There’s so much to say. He brought so much joy to this world. I can’t believe he’s gone.
I love you, Fud.
Other loved ones and colleagues from different Firefighter departments also posted tributes on Social media following the passing of David.
