David B. Jernigan Jr and Loren B. Smallwood died in Franklin County crash Sunday morning: An collision involving a semitrailer that occurred on Interstate 40 in Franklin County’s rural area resulted in the deaths of two people from North Carolina.
According to a fatal accident report filed by the Arkansas State Police, David B. Jernigan Jr., 30, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, was operating a 2024 Kenworth traveling westbound on Interstate 40 at around 4:57 a.m. on Sunday when the collision took place.
According to the report, the truck went off the roadway, drove into the median, and collided with the center pylons at the overpass that is located on Pleasant View Road.
As stated in the report, both Jernigan and his passenger, Loren B. Smallwood, who was 36 years old and from Tobaccoville, North Carolina, were killed in the collision.
As stated in the report, the meteorological conditions at the time of the accident were dry and cloudy simultaneously.
