“It is with deep sadness that we have to inform you that, after suffering a medical issue on Sunday, @Daveeys21 passed away,” the statement from KRÜ reads. “There is no way to soften this, it took us all by surprise.” The statement, in Spanish, continues, “Daveeys, Santi, was a spectacular player and a first-class teammate.

On September 3, before Daveey’s death had been announced publicly, his teammate axeddy posted on X/Twitter to say he had taken a break from playing that day, adding, “Never forget to tell the people you love that you love them.” “All of us at KRÜ accompany their family and friends in this difficult moment, and we ask the entire community to support them with their strength and love.” No cause of death was reported for Daveeys at the time of this publication.

Who was Daveeys?

Daveeys played a pivotal role in securing KRÜ’s qualification for Valorant Champions 2023 by clinching victory in the Americas Last Chance Qualifier. Along the journey, they vanquished formidable opponents such as Cloud9 and FURIA. However, their performance in the tournament group stage saw them end up at the lower end of the standings, following defeats to Paper Rex and Giants.

Exhibiting his distinctive dedication and modesty, he took immense pride in serving as an inspiration and ambassador for both his country and region on the international stage of VALORANT. This achievement was the realization of his lifelong dream, a dream that he saw become a glorious reality. He had a funny and unique personality and was never afraid to show it and his friends loved that about him. He was described by his friends as someone always ready for a laugh.
