Dave Peavy Death – In the vicinity of Madison Elementary School and Gardner High School in Gardner, Kansas, Dave Peavy worked as a crossing guard for a number of years at the intersection of Buckeye and Madison streets. After being struck by a car nearly two weeks ago, a crossing guard for the Gardner School District in Massachusetts tragically passed away. David Peavy was always a recognizable face standing by, ready to say hello to anyone passed through the intersection or strolled across the street. He did this whenever anybody passed by.
Peavy was hurt after he was hit by a car on Thursday
Cammie Mciver, Dave’s mother, stated that “everyone loves Dave.” Cammie Mciver stated, “It should come as no surprise that I knew he was a good man.” Cammie Mciver is quoted as saying, “Just saluting, waving, pointing, smiling, hollering, I mean you couldn’t have a bad day after that,” Peavy was hurt after he was hit by a car on Thursday, February 23, before school started. “Her class was making cards for him, you know, they just wanted to be supportive of him, the way he was of them every day,” said Mciver. “They just wanted to be supportive of him, the way he was of them every day.”
Members of the greater Gardner community came together
Peavy passed away on Sunday, and those people who became his friends at the crossroads are heartbroken over his passing. According to Kruz Mciver, a student in the fourth grade, “He was a really close friend to all of us.” Kruz and her pals were led across the street in a controlled manner both before and after school on a daily basis. Krus Mciver shared his experience, saying, “If I would cross too early, he would make me go back and restart.” Students, parents, and members of the greater Gardner community came together on Monday to memorialize Peavy by laying flowers and putting up posters at a local intersection.
