Dave Daly Death – Dave Daly, one of the very best, First Team Coaches and Committee Members of West Utd Fc has passed away suddenly. Dave Daly was announced dead today, Tuesday, the 6th of June 2023. He died after a short battle with illness. Only Last Friday Night he sent the call for his clubmates to call out to his house and visit him. He spent most of the evening giving life advice to everyone there and never once complained about what he had to deal with.
To his Wife Eileen and all The Daly Family, Extended Family and huge circle of friends we offer our Deepest Condolences. We lost a Galway Legend Today. A man who quite simply lit up every room he ever walked into. Even in his last days his witty humour and positivity shone so bright. You couldn’t believe he was sick.
So far, no official news on his cause of death has been released.
Who was Dave Daly?
Except for himself, Dave was concerned about everyone else. He had the kind of personality that you could live ten lifetimes and never meet again. He was a one-of-a-kind. A exceptional individual, and above all, a true family man. He was a friend to many people, and his death will leave a vacuum that cannot be filled. Dave began his football career under Mike O’Connor and won his first prize with West, the u15 Connacht Cup.
Dave returned as manager in later years. West Utd Fc thought it was time to hire a manager, pay them, and become more professional, as other clubs were doing. The West Utd Fc club approached Dave in the early 2000s and wanted him to manage the 1st club. Dave accepted, but only on one condition, which summed up Dave. He refused to accept payment. Dave did it because he enjoyed the game.
Dave was also a Top Class Referee, having officiated in two FAI intermediate finals. This demonstrated his stature in the game and how highly regarded he was. For St Michael’s, he was also an accomplished Gaelic Footballer. When William Grant asked him back two years ago, Dave went to the West and immersed himself in everything West Utd. He was proud of The West United FC Academy. He had every Councillor ring for better Swamp facilities.
The family will release an obituary and funeral arrangements for Dave Daly.
