Death: Sibley man killed in Sunday house fire identified – A guy from Sibley has been identified as the victim of a house fire on Sunday. Authorities recognized Daryl Janssen, 73, of Sibley, who died when the residence he was residing in was engulfed late Sunday night, according to Sibley Fire Chief Ken Huls.
According to siouxlandproud.com, Huls told KCAU 9 that they first received a call for a power outage in the 400 block of West 10th Street at 11 p.m. Crews arrived on the scene to find the southern portion of the house and the shed completely involved in flames and requested help.
When the owner of the house alerted firefighters that her brother was still inside, firefighters phoned her to inform her. Crews fought the fire for four hours before discovering Janssen’s body on the bedroom floor, where he was transported to Osceola Community Hospital.
