Daniel Ponder arrested – The Rochester Police Department sent out an Amber Alert on Saturday morning to residents of Western New York in response to the kidnapping of a lady in her twenties and her son who is four years old. Around three in the afternoon, officers responded to an alert that had resulted in a tip that led them to a residence on Reynolds Street. The child was located by the police inside the house, and his mother was located nearby ten minutes later.

The police continued their search for the culprit, Daniel Ponder, 24, even after they determined that both victims were safe. They discovered him strolling down Wellington Avenue late on a Saturday night. According to the police, Ponder was familiar with the victims, and the court documents say that he had previously made a death threat against the mother. According to the allegations, Ponder kidnapped the victims while brandishing a firearm and at one point punched the mother in the face many times.
“The suffering that he has inflicted to this child and this mother is disgusting and difficult to put into words,” said Bello. “He should be held accountable for his actions. The dread that they felt and the lifelong challenges that they most likely will have to deal with as a result of an occurrence like this, to take that first step and hold him accountable is an extremely satisfying experience for everyone involved in this case,” said the investigators.
According to Bello, the Amber Alert was an essential component in helping to save the lives of the victims. According to what Bello said, “we Talk About Partnerships With Our Many Agencies. Court filings indicate that after the kidnapping, Ponder was also engaged in a car accident and fired multiple shots from a revolver.
The Monroe County Prison is currently housing Ponder as the investigation into his alleged involvement in the kidnapping, burglary, and assault continues. According to the police, it’s probable that there were further suspects involved.
