Daniel Esparza Death – Daniel Esparza has passed away suddenly. He was confirmed dead on Sunday, September 10, 2023. According to reports he died after suddenly falling ill during a football game while playing with the band. He will always be missed by all those who knew him during the course of his life. Students and staff members who are going through a difficult time have access to crisis counselors. This next Saturday in Sun Bowl Stadium, Bowie will take against Jefferson at 11 in the morning. White attire is strongly recommended for everyone who will be in attendance. During the course of the game, the Bowie band will be joined in the stands by musicians from a minimum of four other bands from across the city. Later in this month, drum majors from all of the bands who are competing in the El Paso ISD Marching Band Invitational will put on a T-shirt in Daniel’s honor and wear it in memory of him.
In honor of Daniel Esparza, the prize that is presented to the most outstanding band leader at the event will now be known as the Daniel Esparza Outstanding Drum Major prize. The Bowie High School will play host to the tournament on the Saturday, September 30, 2018.

This coming weekend’s schedule of high school football games will include moments of silence and reflection in honor of Daniel. During this week’s concerts, members of all of the marching bands in the El Paso Independent School District will wear either a white and blue ribbon or a white and blue T-shirt in honor of the Bowie drum major. This show of solidarity will take place in the colors blue and white. In remembrance of Daniel, each band will play their set this week with a special dedication to their audience.
