Dakota Embry Death – Dakota Embry, a 24-year-old inmate taken into custody and booked on charges on Friday has died. He was taken to custody on Friday, June 2, 2023, around 5:10 in the evening. He was found dead about five hours after he was taken to Escaped Wood County. Together with another prisoner, he escaped from the Northwest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green on Thursday. According to investigators, Embry and 36-year-old Justin Firman were discovered in Fostoria at around 12:30 on Friday.

In response to a warning about inmates who had escaped, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to the prison soon after 8:30 on Thursday night, according to a press statement. According to police, authorities used information obtained from questioning others at the prison who might have been engaged in the escape plan to locate the two on Friday in a camper. Friday around 5:10 p.m., Embry was lodged in the Wood County jail. He was discovered unconscious in his cell by Wood County jail guards about 10:34 that evening. According to a press release issued by Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn on Saturday morning, they began CPR until paramedics arrived.
Initial responders declared Embry dead. The reason of death has not been made public. Wasylyshyn reported that there were no indications of wrongdoing and that the Lucas County Coroner’s Office would handle further inquiry. In 2022, Embry of Bryan was charged in Henry County Common Pleas Court with felony possession of a substance related to fentanyl. He pleaded guilty in December, and in December he was given a program to finish at Northwest Community Corrections Center.
In Bryan, Ohio, on June 8th, there will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. He will thereafter be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at the Krill Funeral Home on June 17 at 2 p.m. Ted Pollock will conduct the service.
