A single-vehicle accident near Cultra, County Down, has resulted in the death of a man who was in his sixties. It took place close to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum at approximately 14:00 British Summer Time.
Although it had been closed, the dual carriageway that connects Belfast and Bangor on the A2 has since reopened. In attendance were the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), the Air Ambulance, and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
A medical examiner pronounced the individual deceased at the scene. A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) stated that the organization had received a call from the emergency number 999 in response to reports of a single vehicle traffic accident. An Emergency Crew and a Rapid Response Paramedic were dispatched to the destination.
In addition, the Charity Air Ambulance, which had a crew on board, was summoned by ambulance control to respond to the situation.
According to Stephen Dunne, a member of the Assembly for the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in North Down, the event was a “real tragedy,” and he sent his condolences to the family.
