RIP Craig Warvel. Craig passed away today at the age of 67. Watch JET 24/FOX 66 for more information. I listened to Craig & Frank Martin on JET-FM 102 back in the ’80s & ’90s. Again, RIP Craig Warvel. Thank you for entertaining all of Erie and making it great to listen to you.

How did Craig Warvel die?

There was no cause of death reported for Craig Warvel at the time of this publication. However, he had been ill for some time, and most recently was diagnosed with lung cancer in January. “My condolences to his son Levi, family, friends, and radio listeners.”

Who was Craig Warvel?

Craig Warvel, a highly regarded Erie disc jockey, recently underwent a transition in his role as the morning show host on WXBB-FM. Last week, the station introduced Glenn & Amy, a morning show originating from Harrisburg, as the new hosts. Despite attempts to reach out, Craig did not respond to inquiries for comment. Since 1981, Craig had been an integral part of the Erie radio scene, making a name for himself primarily by his last name.

From 1998 to 2015, Craig co-hosted morning shows on WRTS-FM/Star 104. His radio journey began in 1981 at WJET Radio, and he spent 17 years at WJET-AM/1400 and WJET-FM/102, where he collaborated with the legendary Erie disc jockey Frank Martin on a morning show. Later on, he ventured into co-hosting the morning show on Star 104 before ultimately taking the helm solo on BOB-FM. Craig’s contributions to the radio industry in Erie have been significant and noteworthy throughout his career.
