His daughters wrote: “It was unforeseeable and we as a family are still in shock. His three daughters, Courtney, Makenzie and Carlee are left with the responsibilities of taking care of his funeral and we are hoping to be able to celebrate him and honour his life with a proper burial. He was known and loved by so many and this is just as devastating and shocking to you all as it is to us. Thank you for all the love and support, we need it.”

How did Craig Chamberlin die?

There was no cause of death reported for Craig Chamberlin at the time of this publication. Craig was a man who would give you the shirt off his back. He always had a permanent smile even in the toughest of times. He was a great man and co-worker. (Deputy Craig) was the best PR the department could have had on the road and was a household name in the community.

Who was Craig Chamberlin?

Chamberlin grew up in the Spokane Valley, graduating from University High School in 1988 and going on to play football at the University of Puget Sound. He earned a BA in Economics in 1992 and joined the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office a few years later. He transferred laterally to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office after three years with OCSO, where he actively connected with the community and performed outreach with his ‘Ask Deputy Craig’ segments on the news.

Chamberlin has been with SCSO for 23 years and declared his intention to run for sheriff last February. He was sacked four days later by former Sheriff Knezovich on suspicion of lying during an investigation. After 25 years as a deputy, Chamberlin decided to take a different road and was employed as a spokesperson and business developer at SERVPRO of Spokane County, which handles fire, water, and mold damage cleaning.
