COVID-19 hospitalizations in the Northern Territory have risen to 170, a new high.

There are almost 800 new COVID-19 cases in the Top End region

COVID-19 patients have increased to 170 in Northern Territory hospitals, up from 164 on Friday. Two patients are in intensive care units, while 21 others require oxygen. Both numbers are lower than the previous day’s totals of three and 27.

On Saturday, the Northern Territory government confirmed 1,425 new coronavirus cases, a new daily high, with 42 cases added to Friday’s total.

Rapid antigen tests detected 1,223 of the new cases. The Top End had 799 instances, Central Australia had 193, East Arnhem had 108, the Big Rivers had 80, and the Barkly had 38. A total of 165 people are being investigated. In the NT, there are around 7,733 current cases.
