Costco Shooting Today: Toddler, 1, hurt at Costco fuel station in New Orleans

Costco Shooting – Authorities are responding to the Costco fuel station today Tuesday, July 12th, 2022. According to the police department in New Orleans, a 1-year-old toddler was located shot at the Costco gas station parking lot off Carrollton Ave. The infant has been transported to an area hospital. Authorities said the toddler’s condition is not known at this time.

According to the report, the infant located the firearm inside a vehicle. Details revealing the owner of the firearm is not available. Multiple officers with the New Orleans Police Department are on the scene where a large area has been cordoned off. The investigation is currently ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the police department. This is a developing story.

***Man fatally shot at a Costco parking lot Sunday identified***

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has named the man that was slain in Costco’s parking lot Sunday evening as 44-year-old Joseph Sandoval. According to New Orleans Police Department, Sandoval was shot in the 3900 block of Dublin Street. NOPD stated the gunshot was called in soon after 7 p.m. When cops got to the site they found a 44-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The store was closed at the time of the event and authorities indicated the gunshot was a domestic incident. The shooter is in custody. EMS pronounced him deceased on the scene. Sandoval was in the parking lot with his girlfriend handing off her child to her child’s father when an altercation erupted, according to our partners at the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate. No further information is available at this time but NOPD will disclose details as they come in.
