She died at the young age of 33. Cortney was a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, and all around great person. There was no cause of death reported for Cortney Wright Evans. Thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family during this difficult time.

Who was Cortney Wright Evans?
Cortney Deeaunna Wright Evans was born on September 14, 1989, in Greenville, North Carolina to Joe and Denise Wright. Cortney went to school in the Pitt County Schools, where she finished from J H Rose High School and was on the track team. She went to UNC Wilmington, where she continued to compete in track and field sports.
She went to Elizabeth City State University and got a degree in Social Work. She had worked with Therapeutic Foster Care Consultants and Beaufort County DSS. Cortney went back to school and got a degree in Health Information Technology from Pitt Community College in 2022. She was also inducted into the Honor Society.
After she graduated, she got a job with Physicians East in the insurance department. She met her husband Christopher Evans in the summer of 2013, and they got married the following year. Cortney was a beautiful, loving person who was always full of smiles. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend who will be truly missed.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 1 pm at Philippi Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at Smith Funeral Service.
