Corey Stasenko Death, Construction Worker dies in Kenilworth, N.J. trench collapse: The 29-year-old Corey Greg Stasenko unexpectedly died on Monday, May 6, 2024. Corey was a longtime resident of South Plainfield and was born in Summit, New Jersey. He bought a home and relocated to Cranford, New Jersey in 2022, becoming a pleased homeowner. After graduating from South Plainfield High School in 2013, he attended Middlesex County Magnet School in Piscataway to study plumbing and Rutgers University in New Brunswick to study human resources.
Corey played football for the local team and wrestled competitively throughout high school, driven by his love for the sport. He was committed to his career and a diligent worker. He started his own business, Stasenko Landscaping & Hardscaping, after working as a landscaper for Giordano Landscaping for many years. His plumbing profession began when he was a student at MCMS. After completing his education in 2023, he obtained a plumbing license. At the time, Corey was employed for K and D Contractors in Kenilworth, New Jersey.
When Corey was little, he was an avid skateboarder. As he grew older, he developed a passion for painting, sketching, and cooking. He also loved snowboarding and was frequently seen on the golf course. In addition to his brothers Joshua and Alisha Stasenko, as well as his parents Lisa Scarpa and Gregory Stasenko, Corey was predeceased by his grandparents Alex Stasenko and Lillian Scarpa. Along with a large number of other friends and extended family, he will also be missed by his grandparents, Stella Stasenko and Bernard Scarpa, the Dinizo and Prasek families, and others.
On Monday, May 13, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM, there will be a viewing at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 10 AM, will see a funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, located at 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ. Family and friends are welcome to congregate at the funeral home starting at 9 AM, before mass.
