More than one month after Matthew Potocki’s passing, his family is pleading for anybody who may have seen him on the day he vanished to come forward with their account of what happened. In Gary, members of Potocki’s family and friends passed out fliers near the intersection of Cline Avenue and Blaine Street. According to Potocki’s family, this is the location where Potocki was last seen on video surveillance on July 28. The family is keeping their fingers crossed that one of the construction workers or truck drivers who could have been driving down the street saw their loved one while he was missing.
A corpse believed to be that of Potocki, 32, a resident of Hebron, was recovered from a body of water on the morning of August 4 in a marshy area in Gary close to the intersection of East 163rd and Cline avenues. According to Higuet, he was discovered by a person who was spraying the area to get rid of weeds. The Potocki family put up banners all around the neighborhood as well as a giant banner at the intersection of Blaine Street and Blaine Street that said, “Justice for Matt Potocki.”
