Colleen Slota Death – On the morning of Wednesday, April 19, 2023, just after 2:20 a.m., local law enforcement discovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the vicinity of King Edward Avenue and Russell Avenue. After the suspect vehicle sped away from the police, officers tracked it down a short time later in the neighborhood surrounding Adelaide Street South and Thompson Road. The vehicle of suspect had been involved in a collision with another vehicle.
Victim pronounced on scene
A citizen who was traveling in a vehicle that was not involved in the collision was found to have died at the site. Because of this, the Special Investigations Unit has exercised its mandate. Colleen Slota, 62, a resident of St. Thomas, has been determined to be the person who passed away.
As a direct consequence of the investigation, three different people have been taken into custody and charged with the crimes listed below: Shawn Tinning, 38 years old and residing in London: Causing death by criminal negligence; failing to halt at the scene of an accident that caused death; possessing property obtained by criminal activity in excess of $5,000; and possessing property obtained by criminal activity in an amount less than $5,000 are all crimes that can result in a prison sentence.
Jason Albert MacDonald, 49, of London, was charged with possession of goods obtained by crime in the amount of more than $5,000 and in the amount of less than $5,000. Both charges were stacked against him. Josey-Ann Alisha Morris, age 40, from London, was charged with possessing property obtained through criminal activity in excess of $5,000 and in possession of goods obtained through criminal activity in excess of $5,000.
Suspect to appear in court
Shawn Tinning is still being held in custody and is scheduled to make his next court appearance in London on April 25, 2023. Josey-Ann Morris and Jason MacDonald also have forthcoming court hearings set for May 31, 2023. At this point, the investigation is still being carried out in full. The Special Investigations Unit was made aware of the situation, and they have started an investigation as per their mandate.
