CJ Harris Death – CJ Harris sadly passed away on the 15th of January 2023. Jasper Alabama resident CJ Harris died at the age of 31 from undisclosed causes. Curtis “CJ” Harris was an American singer who competed in the thirteenth season of American Idol and finished in sixth place overall. The year 2019 marked the debut of his debut solo single, which was titled “In Love.”
Who was CJ Harris?
CJ Harris who was raised in the Alabama town of Jasper, Alabama, was born on January 28, 1991. When Harris was a student at Walker High School, he played football for John Holladay and was a standout athlete. Reports state that at the age of eight, his grandfather gave him a guitar that was in bad shape and only had three strings so that he could begin learning how to play the guitar on it. His grandfather had given him the instrument because he wanted him to learn how to play the guitar.
In addition to that, Harris was an exceptionally gifted pianist. Harris participated in the local church choir while he was a child and a teenager. AL.com has described his unique style of music as “earthy roots rock, with blues and country overtones.” His singing is primarily the result of his own self-education, and AL.com has used this description to describe his music. In many interviews, Harris has expressed his belief that he possesses a style that is comparable to that of the band The Civil Wars.
The year 2010 saw Harris’s first appearance on the American Idol stage, during which he took part in the audition process for the singing competition. Before he was cast on the thirteenth season of the show, which aired in 2014, he tried out for both The X-Factor and The Voice, but neither of those options worked out for him. The show that ultimately gave him the most success was The Voice.
Prior to the time of that audition, Harris was already working as a freelance musician and had already published an album under his own name named Small Town Boy. His most recent job was working as a pitmaster at a barbecue restaurant. The first season of American Idol began not too long after Harris’s father passed away, which was not too long before he was picked for the competition.
Harris performed at The Grand Ole Opry with Darius Rucker soon after his time on American Idol. He also took part in the tour for American Idol’s 13th season and sang at the Foothills Festival in Jasper, Alberta, in 2014. After that, he went to Nashville, where he ended up living with Alex Preston and Sam Woolf, two of the other finalists from Season 13.
In an interview, Harris said that after his time on American Idol, he would most like to make music that is “a mix of country, blues, soul, and Southern rock.” This interview happened after Harris’s time on the singing competition American Idol. His first single as a solo artist came out in 2019. It was called “In Love.”
CJ Harris obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family at a later date.
