An after-school crash injured two students Tuesday at a South Carolina high school, officials said. Darian Byrd, with the Pickens County School District, said the crash happened at dismissal time at Pickens High School, at 150 Torch Drive. Byrd said a student in a car hit a student in a campus road entrance of the student parking lot on the east of campus. The Pickens Police Department and emergency medical teams arrived and assisted the student hit by the vehicle, Byrd said.
He said the student is not believed to have life-threatening injuries, but out of caution, was airlifted to Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Byrd said the other student driver suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. Pickens Police Chief Randal Beach said his department is investigating.
