Charles Byrd Death – Greenville Technical College Alumnus Charles Byrd has sadly passed away. He died on Thursday 25th May after being shot in Pickens County. According to information released by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, a 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his stepfather in the state of South Carolina. Jericho Ridge Trail in Easley was reportedly the location of the gunshot that took place on Thursday evening.
What happened to Charles Byrd?
When the deputies arrived, they discovered a guy, subsequently determined to be Charles Byrd, age 55, who was suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman who was present at the crime scene reportedly informed deputies that someone who lived in their home had shot and killed her husband. After the shooting, deputies stated the suspect fled away from the area, but he was taken into custody around 20 minutes later.
Chandler James Smith, who is 20 years old, has been identified as the suspect. Byrd was allegedly identified as Smith’s stepfather by his family to the deputies. According to the deputies, Smith is being investigated for both murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent felony.

Following the finding of a body of a lady in Easley with what seems to be a gunshot wound, deputies in Pickens County have announced that an investigation has been opened and that it will be conducted. According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence that was situated on Crest Way in Easley. The caller reported that the disturbance was taking place inside the residence.
According to the statements made by the deputies, when they arrived on the scene, they discovered a female victim who was unresponsive and had already passed away as a result of what seemed to be a gunshot wound. Both the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office are currently conducting their own separate investigations into the incident. At this time, there have been no arrests made and no one has been brought into jail.
