On Friday night, a woman was shot and murdered inside of a convenience shop during what police reported as an apparent aggravated robbery and homicide. Officers were searching for a suspect who fired rounds at another person while fleeing the convenience store in the parking lot. According to the police report, Chanell Moore, age 28, was shot and died in the store on Friday night. According to the police report, Moore was shot during the robbery. A customer who had just pulled into the parking lot reported that the shooter had fired another shot, but that the customer had managed to avoid being hit.

According to a news release issued by Fort Smith early on Saturday morning, the customer remained in the vehicle while driving away to a secure spot and calling the police. Early on Saturday, the police did not offer a description of the person who had opened fire. At the intersection of 91st Street and Rogers Avenue, close to the Smile Bull Restaurant, there was yellow crime scene tape wrapped around the property.
