The victim has been identified as Chad Softley, the beloved older brother of Craig Softley, the owner of Horizon Ranch. According to reports, Chad Softley, a resident of Kearney, Nebraska passed away from self inflicted gunshot injuries. He allegedly committed suicide. No further information was mentioned. The details surrounding the incident were not immediately released to the public.

Chad, a native of Grant, Nebraska had a big heart and a beautiful smile. Chad was such an incredible human being. He provided amazing hugs. Someone with such a terrific huge personality and a wonderful person; as generous as anyone has ever met and always greeted them with the largest smile and laugh possible. Chad was an honourable man and a wonderful parent.

An accident that occurred early on Tuesday resulted in the death of a guy from Kearney. At about one minute after midnight, officers from the Kearney Police Department and the EMS crew from the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital responded to a crash involving a single car that had occurred at the intersection of North Railroad Avenue and B Avenue.
According to the findings of the preliminary investigation, a white 2009 Toyota Corolla was travelling westbound on North Railroad at the intersection of B Avenue when it left the road and struck a power pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. Michael Swalley, 31, the driver of the vehicle and the only occupant, was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after the accident, but he did not survive the injuries he got as a result of the collision.
The inquiry into the crash is still ongoing. Anyone who may have any information is strongly encouraged to contact the Kearney Police Department. Kearney is the county seat of Buffalo County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 33,790 in the 2020 census. It is home to the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
