Information in details

For the past nine months, Henderson is the third Black trans woman to have been slain in the city of Milwaukee. Regina “Mya” Allen died in August. The man who is accused of killing her is still being held in jail until his plea hearing on March 16. The death of Brazil Johnson occurred in June. Her death has never been explained properly. Chris Allen, the president and chief executive officer of Diverse & Resilient, described the event as “It was heartbreaking because we have been experiencing a lot of loss within our community,” and explained that their community has recently suffered a great deal of death. It is a queer and transgender community group that has previously collaborated with all three of the victims.

Chris Allen continued, “Another person losing their life that we engage with on a regular basis, it reiterates the importance of the work that we do and shows us that we still have so much more to do in order to create safe and affirming spaces for trans individuals,” The following week, the organization will have a town hall meeting as well as a vigil in Henderson. The murderer of Henderson, whose family would like to see served time in prison, is still being sought by the Milwaukee Police Department. “I’m praying that we find answers to see, to get justice. We want justice for Cashay. And we want whoever did this to her and took her from us. We want them to pay for what they’ve done,” Beck said. The family has started a GoFundMe campaign in order to assist with the expenditures associated with the funeral.
