Carl O Lewis Death – On March 2, at about 1:20 in the morning, a fire started in a residence that was located at 840 16th Avenue. Phenix City was the location of a house fire that took place very early on Thursday morning, and according to the Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr., one individual lost his life as a result of the blaze. A man in his sixties was found dead at 3:31 in the morning, and the autopsy revealed that he had died from natural causes.

His true identity has not been made known to the general public as of yet. In the Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery, an autopsy will be conducted on the body of the deceased victim, who will be brought there for the examination. Carl O. Lewis, who was 66 years old at the time of his death, has been recognized as the person who passed away, as determined by the findings of the investigation conducted by the Coroner Sumbry.

After a house fire in the Phenix City region, which claimed the life of a female occupant, over a dozen fire vehicles and law enforcement officers from a number of different agencies rushed to the scene. The house caught fire just off of Highway 165, which caused traffic to stop moving in both directions for about two hours due to the closure of the highway. According to a member of the family who spoke with News 3, his mother-in-law, who is paralyzed, was inside the house when the fire broke out, but her husband was able to escape the blaze. The family is under the impression that the fire began in the kitchen.
According to the Russell County Coroner, Arthur Sumbry, the Phenix City Police Department, the Russell County Coroners Office, and the Phenix City Fire Department are all conducting separate investigations into a suspected death due to a fire. A number of volunteer fire departments from the surrounding area responded to the incident, including Phenix City Fire and Rescue, Fort Mitchell Fire Department, Seale Volunteer Fire Department, and Uchee Volunteer Fire Department. The identity of the deceased has not been made public at this time; however, on June 16th, the body will be transported to the Montgomery, Alabama location of the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
