Alexio Lattero charged in fatal crash that killed three people including a Greensboro firefighter
State Highway Patrol says that a crash in Guilford County on Saturday night killed three people, one of whom was a firefighter from Greensboro. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety says that at 4:50 p.m., troopers went to a car accident on NC 61 near Turner Smith Road in the Browns Summit area.
Investigators believe that Alexio Lattero, who was 16 years old, was driving north on NC 61 in a 2012 Dodge Charger when he lost control of his car, went left of center, and hit a car going the other way. Richard Murrell, 58, of Reidsville, North Carolina, was the driver of vehicle that was hit. He is a firefighter in Greensboro. He died right where he was. His wife, who was also in the car, had life-threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Also suffering life-threatening injuries, Lattero was brought to the hospital. 26-year-old Anna Shyann Lattero, of Reidsville, N.C., and 15-year-old Sarah Martin were trapped in the car when it caught on fire. Both of them died there.
The 16-year-old was charged with three misdemeanor counts of death by vehicle, driving too fast, and driving to the left of the center line. The Crash Reconstruction Unit of the State Highway Patrol is working with troopers to figure out what caused the crash. State troopers said the crash site was cleaned up just before 1 a.m.
**2 killed, 4 others injured Orcutt vehicle crash**
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says that a two-car accident in the Orcutt area on Saturday night killed two people and hurt four more.
Capt. Scott Safechuck said that crews went to the accident on Main road and Highway 135 near Orcutt at 10:20 p.m. Because of the accident, two people died, two were hurt but not badly, and two were hurt but not seriously. The victims were taken to Marion Regional Medical Center in ambulances.
Officials are yet to released the names of the victims from the fatal incident.
