Car Accident; Joseph Simms II Resident of White Bluff Has Passed Away, Nathaniel McReynolds faces charges: A Dickson man was charged by police on Tuesday in relation to a tragic hit-and-run that occurred on Saturday night. Nathaniel E. McReynolds, 46, of the Park at Beasley apartments, is charged on six charges in connection with the crash that happened on Beasley Drive close to the Cowan Road intersection, according to Detective Michael Carter of the Dickson Police Department. The victim was identified by the state medical examiner as Joseph Simms II, 48, of White Bluff’s Lincoln Road. Carter stated that more charges may be filed and that the incident is still being investigated.
After being arrested on Sunday, May 12, McReynolds was being held without bond in the Dickson County Jail until he appeared in Dickson County General Sessions Court. The arrest was prompted by an unrelated probation violation claim. McReynolds is charged with aggravated vehicular murder, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, causing a collision that resulted in property damage, and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device.
On Tuesday, Carter secured and executed the warrants. According to the investigator, McReynolds’s prior DUI conviction resulted in the revocation of his license, and the court mandated that he use an ignition interlock device in order to be granted a driver’s license. Nathaniel McReynolds, the department’s spokesperson, accused Carter and stated that the inquiry into the accident was facilitated by a tip from members of the public. He requests that anybody who spotted a guy between 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, contact the department at 615-441-9527, or use the 615-441-9555 tip line.
The man might have been laying on the south side of Beasley Drive close to the Cowan Road crossing or seen strolling along the roadway. When officers arrived for a welfare check at 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, they found Simms dead. The man had been found lying down next to the road. It’s thought he was hit and murdered on Saturday night while strolling along the street. Carter said the car that is thought to have hit Simms has been located and is being examined by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Forensic Services Division.
