John Pappas Death – John Pappas passed away following a motor vehicle in North Canton on Sunday, night. The Jackson Township Police and Fire Departments responded to an accident in the 7700 block of Strausser St NW around 11 p.m. Jacob Muiter, a 27-year-old male from the 8200 block of Arlington Avenue, NW in North Canton, was driving westbound on Strausser Street, NW in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. He crossed the centerline and collided with a 2017 Toyota driven by John Pappas, 53, and Kristine Pappas, 52. They were both Uniontown residents.
The Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene and pronounced John Pappas dead. The Jackson Township Fire Department transported Kristine Pappas to Mercy Medical Center. Jacob Muiter declined medical treatment at the site, but he later sought medical attention. Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to have contributed to the accident. This investigation is ongoing. There will be no other information shared at this time.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a deadly collision involving two automobiles that occurred Friday afternoon in Louisville. According to a press statement, the accident occurred on State Route 44 around 12:30 p.m. Troopers said that a 36-year-old man from Minerva was driving a southbound Mitsubishi Lancer on SR 44, while an 86-year-old man was driving a northbound car.
Investigators believe the Lancer driver crossed the center line to the left and collided with the other vehicle head-on. Kenneth Russell, 86, of Louisville sustained critical injuries and was brought to Mercy Health, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The 36-year-old driver of the Lancer was sent to Aultman Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers believe that narcotics may have contributed to the collision. This is the 22nd fatal collision in Stark County in 2022.
The crash is still being investigated.
