Car accident; Gregory Willis 50, Arrested after car crash, shooting in Adair County: A man has been taken into custody following a car collision that happened in Adair County on Saturday morning, according to Kentucky State Police. It is alleged that the suspect shot the second driver following the collision. An automobile accident involving Gregory Willis, 50, of Columbia, and Mark Hatcher, 46, occurred on KY 754 at around 7:55 in the morning, according to a news statement from the Kentucky State Police.
According to accounts, Willis shot Hatcher following the impact. Troopers found Willis in a forested area on Paul Frankum Road in Adair County at approximately 1:56 p.m., just after law enforcement arrived. Willis was brought into custody. The Kentucky State Police said that Willis left the area before law enforcement could arrive. KSP claims that he was charged with first-degree assault without any more incidents after his arrest went well.
Columbia native William Freese, who was traveling in Hatcher’s at the time of the collision, was also hurt. He was 23 years old. The statement states that Hatcher and Freese were both sent to the hospital with injuries that are thought to be potentially fatal.
