Canterbury – Canterbury, situated in the southeastern region of England, served as a prominent destination for religious pilgrimages during the Middle Ages. The medieval centre of the city is encompassed by ancient walls, which were initially constructed by the Romans. These walls are accompanied by cobblestone streets and timber-framed homes. The Canterbury Cathedral, established in 597 A.D., serves as the central administrative and spiritual hub for the Church of England and Anglican Communion. It showcases a fusion of Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles, evident in its intricate stone carvings and vibrant stained-glass windows.
