Williams allegedly tried to flee the scene after authorities confronted him as he was breaking into Fields’ car in the 700 block of High Street, according to investigators.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Williams showed a weapon after a brief foot chase. The suspect was then hit by a gunshot from a Cambridge Police officer using a weapon that was part of their official duties. Williams’ non-life-threatening wounds were taken care of at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital via ambulance. The officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit at the request of Cambridge Police.
