Calli Piper Death – On Tuesday night is a time of sadness for the worship community because it has just been slightly more than two weeks since a devastating sledding accident took the life of a Porterville youth director. Together, Jonathan and Calli Piper carried out missionary work all across the world for more than ten years. They didn’t communicate during their first group trip, according to Jonathan, which went to Taiwan. “It was one of those things we look back and joke around, there are even pictures of us standing next to each other helping out at church in Taiwan, and the whole time like ‘I don’t remember having a conversation with you,” said Jonathan. Following that journey, Calli and Jonathan got married and went on to work together at Hillside Community Church.
Information in details
Despite not being able to have their own children, they had ambitions of creating their own family. Jonathan added, “That was our passion, to foster kids, to bring kids home, even if it meant to keep them for a short time and love on them. The couple’s life altered irrevocably just two weeks ago while they were both attending a youth winter camp. “We were out with the youth just playing in the snow and my wife bought this new inner tube she wanted to try out. She just went down on the sled down the hill and hit a bump and then hit a tree and it was just one of those things, in that split second,” said Jonathan. Just a few weeks before turning 30, Calli died away.
Micah Piper, Calli’s brother-in-law, stated, “It’s been remarkable how many individuals in the church communities and our local communities have come to help Jon and our family during this time. The young couple had been planning to adopt a young girl, but now Jonathan is left to care for their impending adoptive daughter alone. The fact that my wife was a mother was one of the biggest blessings for me; it was in her nature to be a mother, and my daughter’s role in enabling that is what makes me so grateful, said Jonathan. On March 10, a funeral service for Calli Piper will be held.
