Bruce Russell Cause Of Death, Obituary Unavailable Yet – Russell died at the Newstalk ZB central Auckland studios on Sunday night, just before his shift on-air was to begin.
According to stuff.co.nz, Bruce Russell, a radio host, is recognized as a gifted newsreader with a “inimitable charisma.”
On Monday morning, Newstalk ZB issued a statement confirming his death. Russell’s career in broadcasting took him all throughout New Zealand.
“I am devastated. Bruce was one of a kind and a colleague for over 20 years. Always made me laugh with his dry sense of humour and helped me a lot with his advice. I shall miss him as will his audience. My thoughts with family. Rest easy my old friend.”
He began his career as a commercial writer before moving to Timaru to work as an announcer and eventually as a programmer.
“So saddened to learn that overnight talkback stalwart Bruce Russell has passed away. Sweet irony he passed at work, probably exactly where he would want to be.”
He finally relocated to Auckland and began working night shifts. Russell went on to work as a weekend newsreader and host of the In My Day Saturday night show.
