He died leaving his family, friends and loved ones who will forever miss him devastated and shocked learning of the news of his sudden passing, He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and had the privilege of meeting him.
He was one of very few blues musicians who not only sang the blues, but truly lived it. There’s a difference between one who plays the blues and who is the blues. This man truly was the blues. Broderick Smith was an English-born Australian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and sometime actor. He was known to be a “fine singer & exceptional songwriter” He was a member of the band, The Dingoes when the band had this fantastic album cover taken in Sassafras. Broderick was regarded as “one of the great performers of our era”
Broderick Smith was born in Hertfordshire, England but later moved to Australia with his father Richard, mother Millicent (née Stone) and a younger sibling, migrated to in April 1959. He lived in Bendigo, Victoria until the time of his death. During the course of his career he was part of several bands including the Smokey Hollows, Adderley Smith Blues Band where he was on vocals and harmonica, with Kerryn Tolhurst on the guitar and mandolin.
