Blayke McGuire Death – Blayke McGuire of Barnesville, Pennsylvania, passed away following a motor vehicle accident on Friday, April 21, 2023. Blayke worked with Blaschak Coal CO. Mahanoy City, PA. Marian Catholic High School wrote on their official Facebook page that The Marian Catholic and Saint Jerome’s Regional School communities express their deepest sympathies to the McGuire family on the loss of Blayke McGuire.
The year 2019 marked Blayke’s graduation from Marian Catholic High School (Pennsylvania), and he had previously attended and graduated from St. Jerome Regional School. He was a Colts football team player at one point in his life. Three of Blayke’s younger brothers are now enrolled in school: Nova and Racer attend Marian Catholic, while Blayke’s youngest brother Brett attends St. Jerome Regional School and is in the eighth grade there.

A man from Mahanoy City was brought to a Coaldale hospital with chest pains after a crash in the village of Barnesville. According to Frackville State Police, the collision occurred at 7:31 a.m. at the intersection of Barnesville Drive and Walnut Streets. On Route 54, a school bus had stopped to gather up students, and traffic had stopped behind it.
Leonard Kurpell, 79, of Mahanoy City, allegedly approached the halted traffic without applying the brakes in time. The 2003 Buick Century driven by Kurpell veered to the right, up a roadside embankment, across the driveway of a residence located at 808 Barnesville Drive, and into a stone retaining wall. The vehicle continued east along the berm until it collided with the right rear tires of a 1988 Kenworth TK operated by Paul Turner, 44, of Germanville.
Kurpell was restrained, and his vehicle, which was disabled and towed from the site, deployed multiple airbags. Kurpell was not injured, and there were no reported damages to the tractor trailer.However, Kurpell complained of chest discomfort and was subsequently transported by Ryan Township EMS to Saint Lukes Medical Center in Coaldale.
