Barbara Carra Death – Centre County Correctional Facility Employee Barbara Carra of Millheim, Pennsylvania has sadly passed away. She died on Sunday 23rd July 2023 after a deadly motorcycle accident. She was pronounced dead at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The news of her death was known through a post made on Monday that says “It is with heavy hearts that we pay our respects and offer our deepest sympathies to the entire Correctional Department family on the loss of one of their dedicated officers”.

Barbara Carra Education and Career

Born on February 27, 1974, in Lewistown, Barb was the daughter of the late Richard G. “Dick” and Nancy J. (Thompson) Carra. Graduating from Penns Valley High School in 1992, she embarked on her professional journey at the Centre County Correctional Facility in 2015, initially working in the kitchen. Through her dedication and hard work, she later assumed the role of a corrections officer in 2017. Throughout her years of service, she not only excelled at her job but also forged numerous friendships with her colleagues.

Beyond her professional achievements, Barb was a person of genuine warmth and compassion. Her loving nature knew no bounds, as she effortlessly connected with people from all walks of life, treating everyone she encountered as a friend. Her radiant presence would light up any room, adorned with an ever-present, infectious smile.

Barb is survived by her husband and Uncle Bibby, daughters, Cassandra J. McCormack and her husband, Tyler Roberts, of West Chester and Zoe G. Parsons of Port Matilda; her step-son, Cyle Sendzick and his wife, Hali, of Laurelton; her grandson, Oliver Roberts; her siblings, Rick Carra and his wife, Molly, of Bellefonte, Marie Rossman and Marie’s daughter, Cheyenne, of Snow Shoe, and Tammy Way and her husband, Wayne, of State College; her cousin that she was extremely close to, Bobby Thompson and his wife, Teree, of Aaronsburg; her cousin, Amanda Neese (Gavin) of Spring Mills; her two lifelong friends, Melissa Vonada (Brian) of Aaronsburg and Beck Guisewhite (Scott) of Millheim; her dear friends, Peggy and Posey; her ex-husband, whom she remained close friends with, Lindy Parsons (Antoinette) of State College; and numerous other family members and friends.

Barbara Carra Obituary

Along with her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her twin brother, Brian “Bubba” Carra in August of 2000. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 5pm to 8pm at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 Mill Street, Millheim, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, PO Box 579, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
